Outdoor backflow preventers may be exposed to weather, landscaping equipment, vandalism, impact, and temperature extremes.

Proper Enclosure Design

An enclosure should provide adequate access to:

• Test cocks
• Shutoff valves
• Check covers
• Relief valves
• Fittings

A backflow enclosure should protect the assembly without making testing, repair, or normal operation more difficult.

RP assemblies also require appropriate consideration for relief-valve discharge.
